Welcome, Dr. James Scanlon, to CTVSA

Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgical Associates is proud to welcome James M. Scanlon, M.D., F.A.C.S., to our expert team of vascular specialists. Beginning June 1, 2025, Dr. Scanlon will start seeing patients across the greater Jacksonville area, offering advanced care for complex vascular conditions.

Dr. Scanlon brings more than 15 years of experience in vascular and endovascular surgery, with clinical expertise in:

• Minimally invasive endovascular procedures

• Dialysis access creation and maintenance

• Aortic and peripheral aneurysm repair

• Treatment of venous disease and arterial blockages

A graduate of George Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Scanlon completed his general surgery residency and vascular fellowship at some of the most respected academic institutions in the country, including Georgetown University and Washington Hospital Center. He also served as Chief Resident and was honored with multiple awards for clinical excellence and surgical education throughout his training.

Before joining CTVSA, Dr. Scanlon led a successful private practice in Southwest Florida and held key leadership positions within hospital surgical departments. He is also a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served as a Lieutenant and academic instructor before beginning his medical career.

Board-certified in general and vascular surgery, Dr. Scanlon is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery. His commitment to innovation, education, and compassionate care makes him a natural fit for our practice and a valuable resource for patients in Northeast Florida.
