
W. Stewart Horsley
Biography
Dr. Horsley is a board certified cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon specializing in cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery with extensive experience performing a wide range of cardiac and thoracic operations including coronary artery bypass, mitral valve repair and replacement, aortic valve replacement, atrial fibrillation ablation MAZE operations, and lung cancer surgery. He also performs multiple vascular procedures that include peripheral vascular stenting and bypass, endovascular aneurysm repair, carotid surgery, and carotid artery stenting. In addition, Dr. Horsley helped start one of the first TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement) programs in the country at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. He brings that experience to Jacksonville with the Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgical Associates, P.A. group covering HCA Florida Orange Park and Memorial Hospitals.
Dr. Horsley earned his bachelorâs degree graduating Valedictorian from the University of Alabama and subsequently finished at the top of his medical school class with honors at UAB in Birmingham, AL. He went on to complete a general surgery residency and cardiothoracic surgery residency at Emory University in Atlanta. He also completed a year of heart surgery research at the Carlyle Fraser Heart Center with multiple publications and presentations. He practiced at Baptist affiliated hospitals in Mississippi for 25 years and recently joined CTVSA surgical associates in Jacksonville in December 2024.
