Biography
Vasant Jayasankar, MD, FACS, joined the practice in November 2010. He is a native of Boston and was working in the Midwest prior to moving to Jacksonville. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and his Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Harvard, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. His interests include minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgery, complex mitral valve repair, atrial fibrillation treatments, transcatheter aortic and mitral valve surgery, redo cardiac surgery, aortic aneurysm repair and lung cancer surgery.
Dr. Jayasankar is dedicated to innovative and advanced techniques in both cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, including endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms. He is committed to the highest quality of surgical care. Utilizing minimally invasive and catheter based treatments allow patients to recover more quickly and with less pain than traditional approaches.
Dr. Jayasankar is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and he is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.
