James M. Scanlon

Dr. James Scanlon is a board-certified vascular surgeon with over 15 years of experience. His clinical expertise includes minimally invasive endovascular procedures, vein treatments, dialysis access, and open and hybrid repair of aortic and peripheral aneurysms.

Biography

Dr. James Scanlon is a board-certified vascular surgeon with over 18 years of experience. His training and clinical expertise includes minimally invasive endovascular procedures and office-based vein treatments.  He is experienced in diagnosing and managing a wide variety of vascular conditions including carotid arterial, peripheral arterial, visceral and aortic arterial diseases as well as central and peripheral venous disorders such as varicose veins.

After graduating from Villanova University he served as an officer in the United States Navy for 6 years.  He then earned his medical degree with distinction from the George Washington University School of Medicine and was selected for membership to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.  He completed his residency in general surgery at the George Washington University Medical Center.  He then continued his training with a vascular and endovascular surgery fellowship at Georgetown University Medical Center / Washington Hospital Center. 

Before joining Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgical Associates in 2025, Dr. Scanlon practiced vascular surgery in Naples, FL where he founded Naples Vascular Specialists.  In addition he held several medical staff leadership positions including Chief of Surgery of Naples Comprehensive Healthcare System.

Dr. Scanlon is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in vascular surgery and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations on vascular and venous care.

Get To Know Your Dr...

Dr. Khan enjoys playing sports when he isn’t practicing medicine, especially soccer. He played soccer in college and is a big Manchester United FC supporter. Dr. Khan also follows the Jaguars and other sports regularly. Traveling with friends and family is also a big part of his life, as well as trying out different cuisines and restaurants.
